Congratulations on the purchase of your Maxi-Cosi Priori.

Safety, comfort and user-friendliness have at all times played an important role in the development of the Maxi-Cosi

Priori. This product meets the most stringent safety regulations.

Research shows that a high number of car safety seats are incorrectly installed. Therefore, please take the time to read

through the instruction manual carefully. The Maxi-Cosi Priori offers maximum safety only when it is used in

accordance with the instructions.

Continuous research by our development team, user tests and consumer reactions ensure that we are kept fully up to

date in the field of child safety. Therefore, if you have any questions

concerning the use of the Maxi-Cosi Priori, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Important

• WARNING: Read this instruction manual carefully.

• WARNING: The correct fitting of the seat belt, along the red marking between the shell and the base of the seat,

is of vital importance for the safety of your child. See figure B2 or the

sticker on the side of the Maxi-Cosi Priori.

• WARNING: For the future use of the seat, it is important that you store the instruction manual in the space

provided on the back of the Maxi-Cosi Priori.

• WARNING: Never leave your child unattended in the car.

• WARNING: Do not use a child safety seat if the vehicle is equipped with a front airbag. This can be dangerous.

This does not apply to so-called side airbags.

• Before use study the illustrations in this instruction manual carefully; the Maxi-Cosi Priori is a safety product

and is only safe when used in accordance with the instruction manual.

• The Maxi-Cosi Priori must only be used on a forward facing seat that is fitted with an automatic 3-point safety

belt (see figure B), which is approved according to ECE R16 or an equivalent standard.

• The Maxi-Cosi Priori may be used on either the front or the back seat. However, we

recommend that it is fitted on the back seat.

• The Maxi-Cosi Priori has been approved according to the strictest European safety standards (ECE R44/04) and

is suitable for children weighing 9 to 18 kg (approx. age 9 months to 4 years).

• After an accident the seat may become unsafe due to damage that is not immediately

noticeable. It should therefore be replaced.

• The safety of the seat can only be guaranteed by the manufacturer if it is used by the original owner.

• We strongly advise you not to use a second-hand product, as you can never be sure what has happened to it.

• The belt pads are important for the safety of your child, therefore use them at all times.

• Ensure that all luggage and objects likely to cause injury in the event of an accident are

properly secured.

• It is recommended that the Maxi-Cosi Priori should not be used longer than 5 years after the date of purchase. The

properties of the product may deteriorate due to, for example, ageing of the plastic and this may not be visible.

• The moving parts of the Maxi-Cosi Priori should not be lubricated in any way.

Other instructions

• The Maxi-Cosi Priori must not be used without the cover. Always use an original Maxi-Cosi Priori cover, as the cover

contributes to the safety of the seat.

• The seat must always be secured with a seat belt, even when not in use. An unsecured seat may injure other

passengers in the car in the event of an emergency stop.

English

• Ensure that the seat is not damaged by wedging it between or underneath heavy luggage, adjustable seats or

slamming the car door etc.

• No alterations may be made to the Maxi-Cosi Priori as this could affect part or the overall safety of the seat.

• In hot weather the plastic and metal parts of the Maxi-Cosi Priori may feel hot to the touch. You should therefore

cover the seat if the car is parked in the sun.

• In order to prevent damage to the cover, do not remove the Maxi-Cosi Priori logo.

• Use the seat even on short journeys as this is when most accidents occur.

• Prior to purchase check that the seat fits properly in your car.

• Take short breaks on longer journeys so that your child has some freedom of movement.

• Set a good example yourself and always wear your seat belt.

• Tell your child that he/she should never play with the belt buckle.

Contact your supplier or importer if you wish to make a warranty claim or have any other questions (see address list

on the back of the instruction manual).

The seat belt

The Maxi-Cosi Priori should be used with an automatic 3-point safety belt provided that this has been approved

according to ECE R16 or an equivalent standard.

Do not use with a 2-point safety belt.

• Your Maxi-Cosi Priori can be fitted safely on almost all the seats in the car with the existing seat belts. However, on

some seats the belts are fitted so far forward that proper installation is not possible. If this is the case, try another seat.

• In some cases the buckle of the car belt may be too long and therefore sits too high against the base of the Maxi-Cosi

Priori. Thus, the Maxi-Cosi Priori cannot be fitted securely. If this is the case, choose another position in the car.

Four positions of the Maxi-Cosi Priori (A)

The Maxi-Cosi Priori may be used in four positions: Lift the handle under the front of the seat up and pull or push the

shell forwards or backwards. Release the handle in the required position and push until you hear a distinct click.

Installing the Maxi-Cosi Priori with a 3-point safety belt (A-B)

When installing the car seat follow the installation instructions for the 3-point safety belt

described above (under section "the seat belt").

A 3-point safety belt is shown in figure B.

Place the Maxi-Cosi Priori in the sleeping position (A) on the car seat.

Thread the seat belt between the shell and base (B1).

Fasten the seat belt in the belt buckle (B1).

The lap belt now fits under the red hooks and the shoulder belt runs from the belt buckle directly diagonally upwards.

Place the shoulder belt in the belt clamp on one side only (B2) and fasten it (B3-1). Note! The shoulder belt is now

only attached on the side of the roll-up mechanism.

Push the Maxi-Cosi Priori firmly into the car seat and pull the shoulder belt tight

(B3-2) so that there is no play between the car seat and the Maxi-Cosi Priori.

Check this!

Placing your child in the Maxi-Cosi Priori (C)

Loosen the shoulder belts by pressing the release button and pulling the shoulder belts towards you (C1). Note! Do

not pull on the belt pads.

Open the belt buckle (C2) and drape the belts over the hooks on the shell (C3).

Instructions for use

Position your child comfortably with his/her back against the shell (C4) and make sure that there are no toys or other

hard objects in the shell.

Slide buckle tongue sections together and insert them in the buckle (C5).

Pull the shoulder belts tight (C6), pull the remaining slack out of the belt system by pulling the belts tight with the

adjuster belt (C7).

Note!

• The tighter the belts are around the child, the better the protection.

• Check that the textured side of the belt pads is on the shoulders of your child

• The belts should never be twisted.

• If you are unable to click the tongue sections in the buckle, unblock the buckle by pressing the red button and try

again.

• If you are not able to fasten the harness belt properly or pull it tight, contact your supplier immediately. Under no

circumstances use the product!

Adjusting the height of the shoulder belts (C-E)

The correct belt height of the shoulder belts is attained when the belt disappears into the shell slightly above the

shoulder of the child. Make sure that the shoulder belts fit properly over the shoulders of the child (C8).

Loosen the shoulder belts by pressing the release button and pulling the shoulder belts towards you as far as possible

(C1). Note! Do not pull the belt pads.

Place the Maxi-Cosi Priori in the sleeping position (A) and open the belt guard door (D1).

Remove the shoulder belts from the belt yoke (D2).

Pull the shoulder belts through the shell and the cover out of the belt pads, but make sure that the buckle remains

fixed to prevent the belts twisting (D3).

If you wish to alter the belts from or to the lowest position, place the Maxi-Cosi Priori in the

sleeping position (A).

If you wish to alter the belts from or to the middle or highest position, place the Maxi-Cosi Priori in the sitting position (A).

Loosen the top part of the cover (D4) and thread the belt pads through the cover and the shell (D5).

From the front thread one belt pad through the correct slot in the cover and shell (D6).

Thread this belt pad via the back through the adjacent hole (D7).

Thread the shoulder belts through the adjusted belt pads, the cover and the shell (D8-D9).

Refit the shoulder belts to the belt yoke and check that the red stitching (x3) on the belt ends and the belt yoke are

facing the shell (D10) – if this is not the case your belts are twisted – then close the belt guard door (D1).

Fasten the cover all around, behind the pins (E4). Check that it works!

Maintenance, removing the cover and the belt pads (C-E)

• The seat may be cleaned with luke-warm water and a gentle soap. Do not use any abrasive detergents.

• The cover must be washed by hand at a maximum temperature of 30 °C. Do not use a dryer (see also washing

instructions).

• The buckle may be cleaned with warm water.

• It is advisable to buy an extra cover when you purchase the Maxi-Cosi Priori enabling the Maxi-Cosi Priori to be used

at all times also when the cover has to be cleaned (or dried).

Loosen the belts and the belt pads, see fig. D1-D5 under the section "adjusting the height of the shoulder belts".

Loosen the cover all around and also at the release button/positioning handle (E1).

Pull the belts, buckle tongue sections and buckle through the cover.

Then remove the cover by pulling it carefully behind the release mechanism (E2).

After washing attach the belt pads (D6-D9) and place the cover on the shell.

Thread the buckle and buckle sections back through the cover and fasten the cover at the release button/positioning

handle (E3).

Instructions for use

Secure the cover on pins (E4).

Close the buckle (C5) and thread the belts through the belt pads, the cover and the shell (D9).

Attach the shoulder belts to the belt yoke and make sure that the red stitching (x3) on the belt ends and the belt yoke

are facing the shell (D10) – if this is not the case, your belts are twisted – then close the belt guard door (E1).

Fasten the cover all around, behind the pins (E4). Check that it works!

Checklist

For safety’s sake read through this checklist before you set off.

• Check that the harness belt system fits properly and tightly around your child and that the shoulder belts are at the

correct height.

• Check regularly that the belt in the Maxi-Cosi Priori is not damaged. If it is damaged do not use your product in any

circumstances and contact your supplier or importer (see address list on the back of the instruction manual).

• Check that you have secured your Maxi-Cosi Priori properly with the seat belt.

• If you have any questions, please contact your supplier. Make sure that you have the following details to hand:

- serial number underneath on the orange sticker

- make and type of vehicle and seat on which the Maxi-Cosi Priori is used

- age and weight of your child.

Warranty

• The warranty period starts from the date of purchase and is valid for a period of 12 months. The warranty is only

applicable to the original owner and is not transferable. The warranty is only applicable to products that have not

been adapted by the user.

• In the case of any defects, the owner is required to return the product to the retailer. If the retailer cannot solve the

problem, he must return the product, complete with a clear description of the complaint and a validated purchase

receipt to the manufacturer. Exchange or return cannot be demanded. Repairs do not constitute an extension to the

warranty term.

• The manufacturer is not liable for any damages other than those on products supplied or manufactured by Dorel

Netherlands.

• No warranty is given if:

- the product is not supplied complete with the validated purchase receipt to the manufacturer

- defects are caused by misuse or maintenance which differ from that indicated in the instruction manual

- repairs are carried out by third parties

- defects are caused by neglect

- damage or removal of any serial number is found

- if there is normal wear and tear which may be expected from everyday use

- the stated warranty terms and conditions have not been satisfied.

• AVERTISSEMENT: Lisez attentivement ce mode d’emploi.

• AVERTISSEMENT: Le passage correct de la ceinture de sécurité auto, le long de la marque rouge qui figure entre

la coque et le socle du siège enfant, est d’une importance capitale pour la sécurité de votre enfant. Pour cela,

reportez-vous à la figure B2 ou à l’autocollant situé sur le côté du Maxi-Cosi Priori.

• AVERTISSEMENT: Pour une future utilisation du siège enfant, il est important de conserver le mode d’emploi

dans l’espace qui se trouve à l’arrière du Maxi-Cosi Priori.

• AVERTISSEMENT: Ne laissez jamais votre enfant seul dans la voiture.

• AVERTISSEMENT: Ne placez jamais un siège auto pour enfants à l’avant si le véhicule est équipé d’un airbag.

Ceci peut être très dangereux. Cette recommandation n’est pas applicable aux « airbags » latéraux.

• Avant utilisation, observez bien les figures de ce mode d’emploi ; le Maxi-Cosi Priori est un produit de sécurité

et il ne peut être totalement sûr que lorsqu’il est utilisé selon les instructions.

• Utilisez le Maxi-Cosi Priori uniquement à une place dirigée vers l’avant et équipée d’une ceinture à enrouleur à

trois points de fixation (voir figure B), à condition que celle-ci soit homologuée selon la norme ECE R16 ou une

norme équivalente.

• Le Maxi-Cosi Priori s’installe uniquement sur la banquette arrière du véhicule conformément au décret no. 91-

1321 du 27 décembre 1991, qui spécifie : « Il est interdit de transporter des enfants de moins de 10 ans aux places

avant de tous les véhicules automobiles », à l’ exception des sièges-auto (type coque) placés dos à la route.

• Le Maxi-Cosi Priori est homologué selon les normes européennes les plus strictes (ECE R44/04) et convient à

des enfants de 9 à 18 kg (environ de 9 mois à 4 ans).

• Il peut arriver que le siège enfant ne soit plus totalement sûr après un accident, même si ce n’est pas

directement visible. Par conséquent, vous devez alors le remplacer.

• La sécurité du siège auto ne peut être garantie par le fabricant que lorsqu’il est utilisé par le premier propriétaire.

• Nous vous déconseillons donc d’utiliser un produit d’occasion, car vous ne pouvez jamais savoir ce qui lui est arrivé.

• Les protège harnais sont importants pour la sécurité de votre enfant et vous devez toujours les utiliser.

• Veillez à ce que les bagages et autres objets pouvant causer des blessures au cours d’un acci dent soient amarrés.

• Il est déconseillé d’utiliser le Maxi-Cosi Priori plus de 5 ans après l’achat. Par exemple, les propriétés du

plastique peuvent s’altérer à cause de son vieillissement, sans que cela puisse être observé.

• Les éléments mobiles du Maxi-Cosi Priori ne doivent en aucun cas être graissés.

Autres instructions

• Le Maxi-Cosi Priori ne doit pas être utilisé sans housse. La housse ne doit pas être remplacée par une autre housse

que celles fournies par le fabricant, car la housse joue aussi un rôle dans la sécurité du siège enfant.

Français

• Le siège enfant doit toujours être fixé à l’aide de la ceinture de sécurité de la voiture, même lorsque l’enfant n’y est

pas assis. Un siège non fixé peut blesser d’autres passagers lors d’un coup de frein brutal.

• Assurez-vous que le Maxi-Cosi Priori n’est pas coincé ou écrasé par des bagages lourds, des sièges réglables ou des

portières qui claquent.

• Vous ne devez pas apporter de modifications au Maxi-Cosi Priori. Celles-ci pourraient en effet entraîner une perte

partielle ou totale de la sécurité.

• Durant l’été, les éléments en plastique ou en métal du Maxi-Cosi Priori peuvent devenir brûlants. C’est pourquoi

nous vous conseillons de couvrir le siège lorsque la voiture est garée au soleil.

• Le logo du Maxi-Cosi Priori qui figure sur la housse ne doit pas être enlevé, au risque d’abîmer la housse.

• Utilisez le siège enfant même pour les petits trajets, car c’est sur les courtes distances que se produisent la plupart

des accidents.

• Avant l’achat, essayez le siège dans votre voiture pour vérifier qu’il est bien adapté.

• Au cours des longs trajets, faites des pauses pour redonner à votre enfant sa liberté de mouvement.

• Donnez le bon exemple et attachez vous-même toujours votre ceinture de sécurité.

• Dites à votre enfant qu’il ne doit jamais jouer avec la boucle de la ceinture.

En cas de réclamations sur la garantie ou pour toute autre question, adressez-vous à votre fournisseur ou à

l’importateur (voir la liste d’adresses au dos du mode d’emploi).

La ceinture de sécurité

Le Maxi-Cosi Priori peut être utilisé avec une ceinture à enrouleur à 3 points de fixation, à condition que celle-ci soit

homologuée selon la norme ECE R16 ou une norme équivalente. N’utilisez jamais une ceinture à enrouleur à 2 points

de fixation. Ne pas utiliser avec une ceinture de véhicule 2 points.

• Votre Maxi-Cosi Priori peut être fixé en toute sécurité sur presque toutes les places de la voiture équipées de

ceintures de sécurité. A certaines places, les ceintures sont parfois trop éloignées vers l’avant et empêchent une

installation correcte du siège enfant. Dans ce cas, essayez de l’installer à une autre place.

• Dans certains cas, la sangle de la boucle de la ceinture de sécurité peut être trop longue et se placer trop haut contre

le socle du Maxi-Cosi Priori, ce qui empêche de le fixer solidement. Choisissez alors une autre place dans la voiture.

Quatre positions du Maxi-Cosi Priori (A)

Vous pouvez placer le Maxi-Cosi Priori dans quatre positions : poussez vers le haut la poignée située sous l’avant du

siège, puis tirez ou poussez la coque vers l’avant ou vers l’arrière. Lâchez la poignée lorsque vous avez trouvé la

position souhaitée et poussez jusqu’à ce que vous entendiez clairement un clic.

Installation du Maxi-Cosi Priori avec une ceinture à 3 points de fixation (A-B)

Lors de l’installation, reportez-vous aux instructions données plus haut pour la ceinture à 3 points de fixation

(paragraphe "la ceinture de sécurité").

La figure B illustre une ceinture à trois points de fixation.

Placez le Maxi-Cosi Priori dans la position semi-allongée (A) sur la banquette.

Tirez la ceinture auto entre la coque et le socle du siège enfant (B1).

Bouclez la ceinture (B1).

Vérifiez que la sangle abdominale de la ceinture passe bien sous les crochets rouges. Vérifiez aussi que la sangle

épaule est bien tendue et va directement de la boucle vers le haut en diagonale. Placez la sangle épaule dans le

verrous de sûreté (B2), puis fermez le verrous (B3-1). Attention ! La sangle épaule n’est fixée que sur le côté opposé à

la boucle de fermeture, côté enrouleur.

Tirez fermement sur la sangle épaule tout en appuyant bien votre siège sur le siège de la voiture afin de tendre la
